Project Type: National Scholarship Contest
Status: In Season 3 of the Contest
Website: www.energycreates.com
Energy Creates is a nationwide scholarship contest that inspires Canadian youth (aged 15-25 yrs.) to foster balanced, critical, and creative discussions about the Canadian Energy Sector.
Students create a free account at energycreates.com. There, they can access a documentary film by award-winning director Mathew Embry. After watching the documentary, they’ll need to pass a quiz about the doc’s content. The website offers a study guide to help.
Students will then create their own original work to reflect on the ideas in the documentary. Students can choose whatever medium they prefer: an essay, a short story, a painting, a film, a fashion design, a makeup look, an interactive installation, a comic, a cosplay creation, an NFT or other digital art … or anything else! Students can express any perspective, whatever that might be, in their submissions.
Submissions are judged anonymously by a panel of expert jurors based on the quality and relevance to the theme of the Competition.
The Energy Creates Scholarship can be applied to any accredited post-secondary institution in the world. As long as the program is an Eligible Program at an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution, the field of study does not impact eligibility. Students can study full or part time and still receive the scholarship.
