Depicting the story of Jesus Christ’s resurrection through “passion plays” is a time-honored tradition around the globe. For many years, the faithful have pilgrimaged to Drumheller, Alberta to witness The Canadian Badlands Passion Play.
Every summer, more than 250 extras and 100 theatre professionals and volunteers will unite to portray the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, all while surrounded by stunning vistas where every rock recalls ancient history and eternal knowledge.
Like a classic prairie revival, the cast, crew and spectators camp by the river, and share in the glory of the gospel together. The Passion Play recreates this experience for audiences around the world. Both as a theatrical event and a feature film (and later, a making-of documentary series), The Passion Play taps a huge Christian market eager for stories that serve their values and faith.
