Two high school friends rekindle their friendship and seek sobriety by visiting iconic basketball
courts, playing one-on-one games, and meeting NBA greats, coaches, and addiction
experts who share their journey with alcoholism and recovery.

SYNOPSIS

Approximately 40 million Americans struggle with alcoholism, with athletes struggling with a greater risk. While high-profile cases in the NFL, NHL, and NBA are well-documented, Rebound explores whether everyday athletes – not just the pros – face similar challenges and what can be done to help them.

The film follows high school friends Mathew Embry and Brandon Firla, now in their 40s, as they rekindle their friendship and seek sobriety through a road trip to iconic basketball courts across the U.S. Along the way, they meet NBA greats like Vin Baker, as well as coaches, and addiction experts who share their struggles and journeys to recovery.

Through interviews and basketball highlights, the film showcases stories of resilience, recovery, and hope, including Baker’s efforts to build recovery centers.

Rebound aims to reduce the stigma of alcoholism, highlight the risks to young athletes, and offer solutions to help others overcome this disease.
